About Dania
Dania Malekghasemi (she/her) is a Scottish-Persian performer who has studied theater intensely in four countries across three continents: Edinburgh, Scotland [native]; Switzerland (with Juilliard); Kuwait; and now, the US.
Being the only UCLA student with a double emphasis in Musical Theater and Directing, she has recently performed and directed classical works like Antigone on UCLA Mainstage (Lead Chorus, Principal Female Swing), Woyzeck (Directed & Multi-rolled), and House of Usher (Directed). A portion of her theatrical training has been dedicated to commedia, being involved in several farces in a variety of ways.
As for Musical Theater, Dania has played iconic roles in The Sound of Music (Maria) and The King and I (Anna). Most recently, she was the female lead in the musical workshop The Golden Record and ensemble in the UCLA Mainstage musical Something Rotten.
Having lived in all parts of the world, Dania has a deep passion for global theater accessibility and the importance of hearing all types of creative voices. These beliefs have made Dania a two-time recipient of the HFPA Actor Fellowship Award.
When Dania isn’t analyzing a script, she can be found procrasti-baking, gaming, composing music, supporting Man UTD or planning her next trip abroad.
