About Gabe
Gabe Worstell (they/he) is a Los Angeles based multimedia artist committed to increasing community engagement in art, specifically new or experimental works that come from queer playwrights and storytellers. Receiving their Bachelor of Arts in theater performance from UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television, they have taken every opportunity to apply their learning, especially through student-led theater groups that make art accessible for students. Gabe has also been featured in UCLA mainstage productions Everybody (Friendship), Fairview (Mack), and 11:38 From Fon Du Lac (Butch).
Having the opportunity to work on 11:38, an original work from an MFA playwright Kap Taylor, steered Gabe toward the type of theater they felt most connected to. As an artist, Gabe’s mission is to create work, and cultivate spaces in which all artists are encouraged to explore, experiment, and celebrate themselves. They have also found a niche in classical shows that are thrust into the contemporary sphere. For instance, Gabe played the moody King Kreon in an immersive production of Oedipus, but also a debonair Algernon Moncreiff in a very queer rendition of The Importance of Being Earnest. Other credits include Rent (Mark Cohen), Love/Sick (Ben, Bill), and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in which Gabe performed as Eddie, and directed the production the following year.
